My first experience with Reiki and children started when my 14-yr old grandson had a migraine headache. My daughter asked me to “give him some Reiki” when I stopped over and he was suffering. He fell asleep during the treatment and woke up to tell me how relaxing it was and that he got relief.
I treated two teenage girls who were interested in studying what the Chakras/energy points do. They couldn’t stop talking about their experience of feeling the energy moving in their bodies and how much they had learned from me.
A 9 year old I treated said she enjoyed the “Zen” experience when we were finished.
I love meeting these young people who are starting on this holistic path to health and wellness.
Children deal with anxiety and depression just like adults. Children also go through “tough stuff” in their lives and may have physical issues at times. Reiki focuses on balancing a child’s system and self-healing mechanism, to find its unique balance from within.
Reiki treatments are safe and non-invasive.
Reiki is a great way to support our children on their life’s journey with helpful self-care applications to promote calming coping skills. Reiki promotes relaxation and confidence and a healthy way of living throughout their lives, helping them make better choices and create balance in body, mind & spirit.
Reiki could benefit the following in children:
- Anger issues and mood swings
- Insomnia and other sleep-related issues
- Focus and concentration issues
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder
- Pain and sore/tight muscles
- Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
- Inattention, distractibility and poor working memory
Teenagers could especially benefit from Reiki if they are coping with the following pressures:
- Bullying or dealing with unkind people
- Relationship issues
- Period pains and hormones
- Difficulty in communicating
- Fear of not being understood
- Low self-esteem and confidence
- Experiencing a loss
- TMJ and headaches
Pregnancy, Babies and Toddlers:
The most beneficial component of using Reiki during pregnancy is that it is safe. Reiki does no harm, only good. I gave Reiki to a first trimester baby during the mother’s treatment. I asked permission to specifically send Reiki to her unborn child. The experience was so sweet, tears came to my eyes.
Babies and toddlers take to Reiki naturally, like a fish takes to water. It is instinctual for babies and small children to be receptive to Reiki’s healing energies. Parents who are Reiki practitioners will attest to this. Reiki transmits from their hands while rocking their child, feeding them and while changing their diapers.
Light touch or no touch, children in general are Reiki sponges, extremely receptive to soaking up its balancing energies. Young children generally do not have emotional defenses inside them that adults often do. Blockages and imbalances slow the flow of Reiki energies and normally children’s energies are less encumbered by energy blocks.
Everything and everyone is ENERGY; therefore, YES…Reiki can be very beneficial for children. What have you got to lose?
